Ukwa west local government area is situated in Abia state, South-east geopolitical enclave of Nigeria. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Oke Ikpe and the LGA comprises of several towns and villages such as Owaza, Umuone, Uzuaku, Umuokwor, Umuahala, Oborhia, Aparazu, and Amaukwu. The estimated population of Ukwa west LGA is put at 158,432 inhabitants with the area primarily occupied by members of the Igbo ethnic affiliation. The Igbo language is commonly spoken in the LGA while the religion of Christianity is the most practiced in the area.
